It's widely known that our feelings depend on diet. Not so widely known is another fact - nowadays food is not exactly what a human being need to be healthy. Of course, our tummy is full, we don't feel urge to eat, but every cell in our body is starving. A small example of a change in our food during last years:
As it was shown, the baked products made from white flour, even if taste better - are nearly completely drained from vitamins and minerals. It's going like this for every food - fruit and vegetables are selected to grow faster, not to got more vitamins. Fields are almost sterile, without minerals. I'm going to describe some basic deficiences, but let's talk about things we have more than enough: Four creepy things that dominated our diet: the caffeine, meat, sugar and carbon dioxide. Basically we should eleminate all of them, or at least minimize the consumption. Meat contains a giant number of omega 6 acids (these one responsible for depression and other neural disorders), a cholesterol, free radicals, iron with messed up absorbtion, fats, hormones (added to an animal food or produced by animal itself) and a lot of proteins - far more than normal human being need. The worst are probably omega 6 acids (they multiply neural symptoms), proteins and hormones. Imagine, how - for example - a good load of adrenaline will stimulate panic attack. Caffeine will flush down mineral resources, literally flush, caffeine is diuretic. There would be no difference if you drink a caffe, tea or cola - caffeine will cause your body to waste minerals that would be kept in other case. Most deadly is a cola, there is sugar, carbon dioxide, caffeine and an orthophosporic acid - this combination will destroy your resources of magnesium, calcium and zinc. Sugar is a silent assasin, but right now the most interesting is fact that the sugar works like a weak narcotic - a very small dose of morphine or something similar. It will "kick" your brain high, giving a pleasure - everyone know how it works. After a bit of sugar you are feeling happy for a moment, it's a sweet moment of life. But right after this feeling pass, you feel even more sad than before. This is little depression. Not a big deal, but repeating it over and over again will mess up with your "prize - punishment" mechanism. Carbon dioxide in drinks will destroy your magnesium resources, and remember - magnesium is a weapon no. 1 against all kinds of mental disorders. Still at our list of "avoid by all cost" they have a 4th position, so do not worry so much about them. Now let's talk about common deficiences, especially ones that might result in neural disorders. It's worth mentioning that lack of only one of minerals or vitamin responsible for immune system will result in dramatically increased number of diseases (cold, dandruff, ACNE etc). In result, it might lead to a chronic disease, not deadly, but surely stressing one. Such a stress will slowly turn our organism of balance. The most important mineral for people with mental disorders is magnesium. Deficiency will ALWAYS lead to a strong depression and sometimes neurosis. A high load of magnesium might give a protection against stress, it will also help greatly against all kinds of diseases. For more information, check subpage about magnesium. Omega 3 acids - the best source is flaxseed, second - walnuts. No, do not trust all these commercials, fish oil is a crap. There are 3 kinds of Omega 3 acids, your body can transform one from plants to the fishy one, but it's hard to reverse this proces. Generally, proportion of omega 3 / omega 6 acids should be between 1:1 and 1:4, unluckilly for most of us it goes like 1:20 or even 1:40, mostly because of eating meat and fats. In result, nowadays we have a lot of neural problems, arteriosclerosis, cancer, dry eye syndrome, chronic sore throat or dandruff. Additionally, a consumption of omega 3 results in longer life, for more information check subpage about them. Vitamin D3 - there is not much of it in our diet. In past our bodies used to syntetize vitamin D3 when sunlight tought our skin. Nowadays we rarely see sun, so it's louder and louder about vitamin D3 deficiency. Not loud enough, tho. Such a deficiency might lead to very serious diseases, including cancer. Zinc - a deficiency is not as common as a deficiency of magnesium yet, but it's epidemic already. White flour, desolated fields, fastfood - they are causes of problem. Vitamin B12 and folic acid - both of them are destroyed by process of cooking, additionally, folic acid exist mainly in green parts of plants. Iodine - a deficiency is common in some countries, in others this problem nearly doesn't exist. Protein. We eat a lot of protein nowadays, far more than we need - a correct number is 1 gr/kg/day. Additionally, nearly no one knows how to compose aminoacids. Without the right composition our body cannot absorb protein from the food. The good composition is, for example, legumes and grains. Our common source of protein is meat, which have a very bad composition of aminoacids. Protein eaten in excess will not be digested and soon will start to decay inside our digestive system, poisoning whole body. Sorry, but there is no "magic pill" to solve these problems. I know, I know, pharmaceutic corporations spend a lot of money just to conceive you, but sorry again, such thing as magic doesn't exist. For example, vitamins A, E and D cannot be digested without fats, magnesium will not be absorbed in presence of calcium, nearly everything block the digestion of zinc. Either you eat healthily or you will be sick. |
